QUALITY ASSURANCE IN SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (STEM)

Abstract

Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education remain core to the development of any nation. It is crystal clear that countries developmental is tangential to their levels of development of STEM. The paper traces the development of western education in Nigeria from pre-colonial to colonial era, through independence and post-independence. It discussed the post-independence development of the education sector, the various attempts in the development of the Nigerian education system. It pinpointed the place of STEM in the Nigerian education from early childhood care education up to the University level. The paper also identified the various agencies responsible for Quality Assurance at all levels. Amongst others, the paper recommended adequate funding of the Quality Assurance activities at all levels.
