ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN TEACHER EDUCATION: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS
Abstract
Entrepreneurship education is generally defined as individuals’ ability to use opportunities and to turn ideas into actions; ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives; and be creative, innovative and ready to face risks. It is believed that as engines of the economy, entrepreneurship education plays a critical role in shaping attitudes, skills and culture. Widespread exposure of students to entrepreneurship will make it more likely that they become entrepreneurs in the futures. Innovative strategies need to be developed that cater specifically for the entrepreneurship educational needs of students. The teacher education institutions need to provide practical training in entrepreneurship to their students, to make them more aware of the benefits of entrepreneurship and to address the factors that impact on developing entrepreneurial education. This paper takes a look at the concept of entrepreneurship, and teacher education. It explains the need to integrate entrepreneurship education in the curriculum of teacher education. The paper equally discusses some of the challenges facing entrepreneurship in teacher education such as poor funding, inadequate facilities etc and therefore recommends among others adequate funding, provision of adequate facilities//equipment, and that our prospective school teachers should not only given the opportunity to learn the skills of using technology, but also to learn how to design innovative instructions through an integration of ICT with curriculum.
AGENTS OF INTEGUMENTARY WOUND INFECTION AND THEIR ANTI-MICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY
Abstract
The integumentary system is the set of organs forming the outermost layer of a human’s body. It comprises the skin and its appendages, acting as a physical barrier between the external environment and the internal environment that it serves to protect and maintain the body of the body. The integumentary system includes hair, skin, and nails. It has a variety of additional functions; it may serve to maintain water balance, protect the deeper tissues, excrete wastes, and regulate body temperature, and is the attachment site for sensory receptors to detect pain, sensation, pressure, and temperature. Integumentary Wound by definition is the breakdown of the tissues of the epidermal and dermal layer of the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body that has a protective function, regulatory function and response to stimuli.
INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY (ICT) USAGE IN TEACHING PRACTICE (TP) AND STUDENTS’ INDUSTRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE SCHEME (SIWES): PROBLEMS & PROSPECTS
Abstract
The uses and proliferation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education cannot be over emphasized. The extent at which ICT have been absorbed in running almost all the routines of teaching and learning in Nigeria is worth looking into. Teaching Practice (TP) & Students Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) have been for long an indispensable tools used to mold Student Teachers & future workers and prepare them for what is to come in the work force. This paper puts into cognizance the concepts of ICT, TP & SIWES, issues/challenges of ICT in TP and SIWES, the importance of ICT in TP & SIWES and solutions to problems bedeviling the subject matter. Conclusion and Recommendations proposed include; adequate funding of TP and SIWES organizing bodies, encouraging students to undergo these trainings only to organizations with adequate ICT department or to avoid organizations with deplorable IT/ICT units.
ROLE OF BIOLOGICAL GARDEN IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AMONG BIOLOGY STUDENTS: A PANACEA FOR CURBING THE RATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA
Abstract
The paper examines the role of biological garden in entrepreneurship education among biology students to reduce the rate of unemployment in Nigeria. There are animals and plants of economic value which when kept accordingly can be used to generate different business ideas, for example poultry production, fish farming, rabbitary, snail production, orchard for production of various economic fruits and production of ornamental flowers. An effective teaching and learning method could be adopted to group the students’ based on the semesters to provide various opportunities for acquisition of skills in different enterprise. Decision making, management, record keeping, leadership, communication, marketing and risk bearing and other skills will be acquired. The entrepreneurial skill gained is an effective remedy for the serious problem of unemployment that is retarding the development of Nigeria.

The rapid changes in information and Communication Technology can help in
minimizing social and economic problems caused by the rapid growth of urban youth population in a developing country like Nigeria. ICTs have the potential to accelerate, enrich, and deepen skills, to motivate and engage students, to help relate school experience to work practices, create economic viability for tomorrow's workers, as well as strengthening teaching and helping schools change. This paper examines Entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance through ICT. The paper also xrayed ICT opportunities in Entrepreneurship. The concept of ICT, Entrepreneur, Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial skills, were discussed. The paper concludes that Youth employment and employability requires important integrated effort that
includes actions in the areas of Education, Skill development, job supply and support for young low-income Entrepreneur, particularly in the knowledge intensive sectors. It was recommended among others that youths should be exposed to training in technology (especially new discoveries) from time to time. This will keep them in tune with trends of the technological world and thus avoid drudgery in their business.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF GROUND NUT (Arachis hypogea L) YIELD TO DIFFERENT ROW SPACING IN BICHI AND TSANYAWA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF KANO STATE NIGERIA

The research was conducted at two different research locations Tsanyawa Local Government, Agriculture and Natural Resources Department Research and extension Farm Harbau (Latitude 12° 18' 0"N, and Longitude 7° 59' 0"E)
(www.maplandia.com/nigeria/kano, and (Federal College of Education (Technical) Bichi Agriculture Education Research farm, Latitude (12°23’42’’N) and Longitude (8°24’04’’E) (www.maplandia.com/nigeria/kano, during the 2021 rainy season, with a view to determine the response of different varieties of Ground nut (Arachis hypogea L.) to different row spacing and arrangements so as to equip and enlighten farmers with technical knowledge on the best row spacing and arrangements to be adopted by farmers on the Sudan savanna agro-ecology. Three row spacing of 40cm, 50cm, and
60cm, and four varieties of Ground nut (Arachis hypogea L.) RRB, RRR, Ex-Dakar, and SAMNUT 24 were investigated, data and records were taken on days to 50% flowering, 90% maturity, plant height (canopy height), leaf area index (LAI), leaf and stem weight, harvest index (HI), grain weight, pod weight and fodder weight. Significant differences were recorded among the varieties tested where SAMNUT-24 and Ex-Dakar had a superior growth and yield parameters. The interaction between row spacing of 50cm yielded better on all the four varieties. This research results showed that row spacing had no significant effects on two parameters. The research and recommends that varieties SAMNUT-24 and Ex-Dakar, and row spacing of 50cm could be adopted by groundnut farmers in the Sudan Savanna agro-ecology for good
crop and better yield, high income as well as fodder yield for feeding livestock.
CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
Abstract
Unemployment is a global phenomenon but its increasing rate in Nigeria is so alarming and the only means of tackling it is through developing entrepreneurship skills. Entrepreneurship is the development of the science of innovation, capability and willingness to organize and manage enterprise along with its risks taken in order to make profit. Human life is all about investment. Nigeria has been clamoring to elevate her citizens above the poverty level by organizing programs that could make her citizens become self-reliant, self-sufficient and self- actualized in order to be recognized and be counted among the developed countries of the world. The knowledge of mathematics helps in acquiring entrepreneurial skills among secondary school students by influencing knowledge of entrepreneurial skills in mathematics. The public and Private school system has contributed immensely to the development of education and by extension manpower base of the country. This paper looks at some challenges responsible for managing public and private secondary mathematics as an entrepreneurship education in Kano State and recommends among other things that Government should make fund available for the purchase of relevant materials for teaching entrepreneurship and as well train teachers to become more acquainted with the concepts of Mathematics and entrepreneurship education which they will invariably inculcate effectively on the students through workshops, conferences, symposium, etc. regularly.
ROLE OF ICT IN ENTREPRENUERSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN STEM EDUCATION

entrepreneurship to impact the economy, the required key and soft skills needed must come from STEM education. This paper looks into the role of ICT in entrepreneurship development in STEM education. The paper reviews the concepts of entrepreneurship, STEM education and relevance of ICT in entrepreneurship development. To achieve a sound entrepreneurship stem education, the paper recommends that, Students should be fully exposed to ICT tools to enable them meet the 21st century skills.
ASSESSING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND-SET OF TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS FOR SUSTAINABLE SELF-EMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA
Abstract
Technical education is bedrock for employment but the system is facing set back due to the lack of appropriate Entrepreneurial Mind-set model. The objective of the study is to develop and validate entrepreneurial mind-set conceptual model required by technical college students for sustainable self-employment in Nigeria. The procedure used in the sampling was random sampling; three out of the seven states listed in the study area were used. Therefore, the target population was 891paticipants instituting 650 teachers and 241 entrepreneurs. Consequently, 254 teachers and 110 entrepreneurs were selected constituting of 364 respondents. The research design for
the study was survey research method using questionnaire approach in the data collection. The instrument was validated through both face and content validity by the experts’ judgment and all their observations and the corrections were considered and made appropriately. The result showed that all the items under important elements of entrepreneurial mind-set were found to be reliable, the reliability coefficient was 0.811. The method employed to analysed the data of this work was Confirmatory Factor
Analysis (CFA). The finding of the study shows a modified measurement model of the significant relationship between the responses of the teachers and the entrepreneurs on the eight significant elements of entrepreneurial mind-set needed. Therefore, going by the modified model it has been achieved that integration of entrepreneurial mindset competencies into technical college programs is appropriate. It emphasis that the implementation of this study by the stake holders, will assist in reducing the menace of unemployment among the technical college graduate. This study offers essential entrepreneurial mind-set model for integrating into technical college programs for sustainable employment in Nigeria.
POULTRY FARMING: A PANACEA FOR CURBING UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUTH IN NIGERIA

In Nigeria, demand for animal protein source and the unemployment rate are
increasing yearly because of high increase in population. In order to meet up with these increases more youth involvement in poultry rearing is needed. Poultry rearing is one of the most lucrative business ideas today, as it does not require huge capital to start, easier to rear and less laborious to cater-for. Poultry rearing provides various job opportunities which include: selling of birds and their products, selling of point of lay and marketing of poultry feed. but still there are great challenges of income fluctuation and seasonality, poor infrastructures and poor mindset of youth participation within the sector. It is therefore, recommends various government agencies, banks, private sectors, civil society, rural co-operative societies, youth agencies in Nigeria with the assistance of various international donor agencies can collaborate and play more role of giving loans, grants and adequate extension services to ensure that youth empowerment is achieved within an eco-friendly environment through profitable poultry production. Government as well as parents should use poultry production business to pursue youth empowerment. The effort would drastically reduce the level of the prevalent unemployment rate among the youth in the Nigeria.
THE PLACE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN JOB CREATION IN NIGERIA

Many graduates in Nigeria exist without job; Self-employment may be one potential issue to change this narration. Based on this necessitates the creating of entrepreneurship skills. ICT should be seen as an ideal tool to accelerate the development process of Nigeria’s entrepreneurship programs. This paper attempts to highlight the importance of ICT in creating new job opportunities, making labour markets more innovative and improve market growth in Nigeria. It has also noted that factors such as inadequate power supply, shortage of skilled technicians/repairers, unavailability of infrastructures, high costs of ICT resources, and uncertainties of Data security are barriers that any potential ICT entrepreneur will overcome. Among other issues, the paper suggested that government should subsidizes these ICT resources imports to minimize the expense of such tools to enable young graduates easy why of affording it, and Non-governmental organization (NGO’s), community leaders and philanthropist should be encourage to come in, in the provision of all necessary facilities for the training of youth in ICT entrepreneur in their communities; therefore it would provide job opportunities for the teaming unemployed youth in Nigeria.
